Theresa c. Phillips

Theresa is an associate at the New Orleans office and practices in the

areas of insurance coverage and insurance defense.

About

Prior to joining the firm, Theresa was employed at the Louisiana Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General, as an Assistant Attorney General (AAG). As an AAG, she practiced in the Civil Rights, Transportation, and General Liability sections, providing defense to state agencies and officers in a wide variety of legal matters. She gained extensive experience in motion practice, building and maintaining client relationships, and obtained favorable rulings in Louisiana state and federal courts.

Theresa was born and raised in New Orleans and attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing. While enrolled at ULL, Theresa studied abroad and attended the American Institute of Foreign Study in Florence, Italy. 

​

She received her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center (SULC). During her tenure at SULC, Theresa was a Teaching Assistant for Legal Writing and Oral Advocacy, and Torts. Theresa served as a “Writing Fellow” at SULC, where she assisted graduates in their preparation for the Louisiana Bar Examination, including coaching on writing and studying strategies to ensure the students’ success.

During Law School, Theresa clerked for the Honorable Mitchell R. Theriot at the First Circuit Court of Appeal, and the Honorable Pamela Moses-Laramore at the Louisiana Workforce Commission - Office of Workers’ Compensation, District 5.
